Laurent Petit

16 July 2024

. . . . . . . . .

Laurent Petit feels it is important to be close to the material he uses and sees his work as a canvas through which the material of ceramics is used to express his pictorial language. He is interested in the fragments of forgotten, wounded and discarded nature, a world in which memory, the imaginary and fragmentation all play a role. The works he has chosen for the exhibition in Stadtmuseum Siegburg are inspired by the particular location itself, with its history, archeology and ceramic past.

Laurent Petit is currently exhibiting in Stadtmuseum Siegburg as part of the exhibition entitled “Sculpting Memory” together with Benoît Pouplard until 1 September 2024.

"Much is now being 'said' in clay... we see the beginning of the potted word."
