Benoît Pouplard

14 July 2024

. . . . . . . . .

Although a relative newcomer to ceramics, Benoît Pouplard creates dramatic moulded porcelain work using celadon glazes and vibrant oxides, which is inspired by the natural environment and forces of ice, water and plate tectonics. He focuses on the intense crucible forged by frozen pressures, friction and fracture through what he calls the “choreography of glacial chaos”. It is a world of awe-inspiring energy and the fascinating beauty of extremes.

Benoît Pouplard is currently exhibiting in Stadtmuseum Siegburg as part of the exhibition entitled “Sculpting Memory” together with Laurent Petit until 1 September 2024.

"Much is now being 'said' in clay... we see the beginning of the potted word."
