New management in Raeren
. . . . . . . . .
A new, young team has taken over the management of the historic castle in Raeren, Belgium, which houses the Pottery Museum. Barbara Bong now oversees the world-famous Raeren stoneware collection. The art historian and musicologist has been working at Töpfereimuseum Raeren for six years now. She is therefore quite familiar with the workings of the museum, but also with the extensive scholarly work carried out in Raeren.
The museum not only presents a complete overview of the history of Raeren stoneware dating as far back as the 14th century, its collection also includes Roman pottery as well as historical stoneware from other Rhenish production centres such as Siegburg, Cologne/Frechen, the Westerwald and Langerwehe.
It also hosts the annual ceramic market in September. Both the museum and market are well worth the visit.
