Vom Feuer gezeichnet – Marked by Fire
Exhibition opens at 11.00 on Sunday 8 March 2026 in Töpfereimuseum Langerwehe, during which Josef Wieser will discuss his work and influences with Prof. Dr. Klaus Schneider.
Josef Wieser’s knowledge and understanding of the finer details of local geology, mineralogy and the workings of clay is unparalleled. His studio is located in the rolling Alpine foothills of Austria along the Eisenstrasse (the Iron Road) in the heart of the Eisenwurzen. The whole region serves as a resource for his raw materials. And it is the character of these ingredients that ultimately determines his adopted aesthetic. He manages to capture the very essence of what could be considered quintessentially Japanese: exceptional craftsmanship built on generational learning and experience, with a distinct sense of propriety and earnest sobriety.
The exhibition Vom Feuer gezeichnet – Marked by Fire runs from 8 March to 10 May. Don’t miss it!
